As Lead Pastor James is responsible to ensure that the Journey family is well taught and well led. He does most of the preaching and is the primary communicator of Journey's mission, vision, and values.
James has been in ministry since 1989 and is a graduate of Cincinnati Christian University. Since 1995 he has served as a National Instructor with Walk Thru the Bible and has taught Bible seminars and marriage conferences across the US and in Nassau Bahamas, Grand Cayman, and Damoh, India. He has also partnered with All Christian Cruises as a faculty member for ten different cruises and feels like those were tough assignments but that someone had to do them.
James and Angie have been married since 1991 and they remain best friends after all these years. They believe that Costco is the best store on the planet and that if it isn’t sold there, then you just don’t need it. They have three boys born in 1998, 2000, and 2006, and one girl born in 2003 (four children should explain their love for Costco).
James and Angie have learned that parenting four children is more like refereeing a football game than anything else; that all a boy really needs for Christmas is a new ball or a flash light and all a girl needs is another doll, more crayons and coloring books, hair bows, shoes, dresses, etc.; that short hair is better for the boys; that a girl can do anything a boy can do; that nightly baths are not optional; that kids eat a lot of food; and that the boys are always at fault when their sister is crying. Since having their daughter in 2003, James has seriously been thinking that arranged marriages are not a bad idea. Angie is trying to talk James out of that idea—no luck yet.
The last time they went to Florida on vacation, they picked up a stray dog and brought him back home. They call him Max. They’re still wondering why they brought him back.
The Brummett home is a normal and busy place filled with laughter, loud crashes, running, playing, wrestling, jumping, toys, and crayon markings on the walls!
